21st Annual Conference of the European Society of Criminology

Due to several uncertainties caused by the CoVid-19 pandemic, the ESC Board is obliged to take the decision of postponing the Bucharest conference to 2024.
The ESC will organize an online conference this year, within the same dates (September 8-11, 2021). We will shortly announce the details on the organization of that conference.

The Bucharest Conference, in addition to dealing with the usual topics criminologists are working on, that can be easily defined as crimes perpetrated by individuals, will also focus on offences committed within different organisational frameworks. While putting together organisational crime and organized crime may seem surprinsing, it is clear that both forms of crime require a certain extent of political, financial or social influence in order to be successfully perpetrated and generally, for both categories, money is the final goal. Nonetheless, the participation of individuals is mandatory. We therefore find the title “(Il)legal organizations and crime: Challenges for contemporary criminology” fitting for the ESC 2021 Bucharest conference, the Easternmost point of ESC conferences.

EUROCRIM 2021

What is EUROCRIM Conference?

The annual conferences of the Society provide an opportunity for the members to present papers on the results of their own research projects as well as learn about the research being done elsewhere in Europe. The conferences are also an occasion where the members can meet each other and discuss on mutual research interests; the meetings have already proved to be an important platform for new pan-European research initiatives.

At the annual conference a general assembly of the Society is convened to make decisions on the affairs of the Society and to give advice on the board members for their upcoming term.
